You can find vitamin C in a multitude of cosmetics—of which some have been shown to be effective in protecting skin—but why not go straight to the source for a tasty boost of C: red bell peppers, papaya, broccoli and oranges are other excellent sources. But a lot of us don't know why we should exfoliate, use a masque and a serum. Here are some answers to why everyone should incorporate these 3 into your skin care regimen. </span><div><br /></div><div><b><i>Why Exfoliate?</i></b></div><div><b><i><br /></i></b></div><div>Exfoliation is the key to vibrant skin. Regular exfoliation helps remove the hard keratin layer build-up and brings luminosity and clarity to the skin. For younger skin, exfoliation unplugs pores and keeps the skin clear and smooth. For mature skin, exfoliation is essential to help minimize fine lines, remove dry flakes, and revive sluggish skin. </div><div><br /></div><div><b><i>Why use Masques? </i></b></div><div><b><i><br /></i></b></div><div>Using a face masque once or twice a week will dramatically increase the elasticity and health of your skin. For instance <b>Eminence Organics Masques </b>contain high amounts of concentrated vitamins and nutrient-rich ingredients. When used consistently, once or twice per week, masque applications allow active ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin giving additional hydration and firming benefits. Treatment masques can be used to control acne, rosacea, dryness or oiliness. </div><div><br /></div><div><b><i>Why use Serums?</i></b></div><div><b><i><br /></i></b></div><div>Serums are secret beauty elixirs to infuse skin with pure vitamins and herbs. What does that mean? What type of products should I use?</b></p><p>Most people who say they have sensitive skin actually have<i>chemically reactive skin</i>. That means their skin has a negative reaction to the artificial fragrances, dyes, and preservatives (such as parabens) used in most products. People with chemically reactive skin should steer clear of those ingredients as well as alcohol and benzyl peroxide, which can be drying.</p><p>Better options are products with a high concentration of active ingredients because effective formulators tend to avoid an abundance of emulsifiers and fillers that neutralize the active level of ingredients. The key active ingredients for healthy skin include antioxidants, proteins, minerals, and essential elements that not only nourish and treat the skin but also protect it.</p></span>Jen's Skincare Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07726795677305409340noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7375965101972801669.post-17096046785634775212010-03-28T18:29:00.000-07:002010-03-28T18:43:51.056-07:008 Foods that Boost Collagen<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv0ih1R48YuIfW4BE1DOQ5ZF4Kvv317ETfdqz_FSxkXKHBFe-BbWIgGOAs5gLVt5kKWaKsaGDswr-3NCOzULGfII3ijLMARrWU__oqo250H1_D1h8HA2y32c9mcSQbRx3FngQvaUckb6g/s1600/foods-containing-collagen-skin-800X800.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 164px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv0ih1R48YuIfW4BE1DOQ5ZF4Kvv317ETfdqz_FSxkXKHBFe-BbWIgGOAs5gLVt5kKWaKsaGDswr-3NCOzULGfII3ijLMARrWU__oqo250H1_D1h8HA2y32c9mcSQbRx3FngQvaUckb6g/s200/foods-containing-collagen-skin-800X800.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453862185385740946" /></a><b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Orange Vegetables: </span></i></b><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Restore & Regenerate </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Vegetables that are orange in color, like carrots and sweet potatoes, are rich in Vitamin A, which restores and regenerates damaged collagen.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">White Tea: </span></i></b></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Supports Structure</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">According to research conducted by Kingston University & Neal's Yard Remedies, white tea may protect the structural proteins of the skin, specifically collagen. What's the difference between these two agents? Is one better than the other for getting rid of acne?</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><b><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Benzoyl Peroxide</span></span></b><b><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">What is Benzoyl Peroxide? Benzoyl Peroxide kills the bacterium that causes acne. It works as a peeling agent, thus increasing the skin's turnover and clearing pores. The bacterial count found on the skin is lessened as well since this agent also works to reduce P. Acnes (the bacteria that causes skin breakouts). Benzoyl Peroxide also "dries up" existing skin blemishes. You can find this agent in over-the-counter products in strengths ranging from 2.5% to 10%. Research indicates that products with concentrations over 2.5% aren't much more effective and they're usually much harsher on the skin. Benzoyl Peroxide was one of the first acne treatments to become widely available.</span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Are there any side effects? When using Benzoyl Peroxide you may experience some initial dryness and irritation. Normally the skin will develop a tolerance to the product after a week or two of use. A small number of people will be much more sensitive to this agent and can suffer some burning, itching, peeling and even swelling after application. It should also be said that Benzoyl Peroxide is a bleaching agent and can cause color loss when it comes in contact with fabric and even hair. Be mindful of this fact when applying Benzoyl Peroxide before going to bed, near the neck and chest, near your hairline and eyebrows, and even when washing the agent off of your face since bleaching can occur. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">If the skin starts to feel too dry you should cut back on your use of Benzoyl Peroxide. Excessive drying of the skin can make acne worse. Also, when first starting out with Benzoyl Peroxide, you should begin by using the product on alternating days so that your skin has time to adjust. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><b><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Salicylic Acid </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid (BHA) that is derived from the bark of the willow tree. It is a key ingredient in many skin-care products found on the market today. The medicinal properties of this agent have been known since ancient times as a means of fever relief and also as an anti-inflammatory drug. Today, it is used to treat acne, psoriasis, dandruff, calluses, corns, keratosis pilaris, and warts. It works as a peeling agent to treat and prevent acne by causing your skin's cells to shed more easily, preventing the pores from clogging up and allowing room for new skin cell growth. The Salicylic Acid penetrates the oil-filled pores and then exfoliates any dead skin cells that have built up inside. This helps to reduce irritation and inflammation, while also breaking down whiteheads and blackheads. Salicylic acid is available in different concentrations in the various skin-care products available to the general public. The approved range of Salicylic Acid for acne treatment is between 0.5% and 2%.</span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Are there any side effects? The most common side effect is dryness, though this is normally very mild. If the skin appears scaly however, you should apply a light oil-free moisturizer following the application of the product containing Salicylic Acid. The skin can also become irritated for some who use products with this agent. If you experience some mild irritation after using Salicylic Acid you should use the product less frequently. If the irritation is severe or continues even with infrequent application you should stop using the product completely.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Some products don't work well with Salicylic Acid, leaving the skin excessively dry or irritated. These products should be avoided and include harsh soaps/cleansers, alcohol-containing preparations, other acne treatments containing peeling agents (resorcinol, sulfur, tretinoin, or Benzoyl peroxide), drying cosmetics or soaps, medicated cosmetics, and other topical skin medications. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span></o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The Verdict</span></b></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:19.0pt;mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align: none;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family: Georgia; "><o:p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: normal; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Both Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid work effectively as a way to treat and control mild to moderate acne cases. They both work as peeling agents and have similar effects on the skin. The main different between the two agents is that Benzoyl Peroxide works as an antiseptic, though those same antiseptic properties makes the peroxide more aggressive and harsher on the skin. Different skin types will react differently to both acne fighting agents so it is really a person choice here. I personally as an Aesthetician recommend Salicylic Acid over Benzoyl Peroxide. </span></span></o:p></span></p> <!--EndFragment-->Jen's Skincare Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07726795677305409340noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7375965101972801669.post-81089186296361572032010-02-22T12:32:00.000-08:002010-02-22T12:43:54.800-08:00Why I prefer Electrolysis over Laser<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';">Let's face it....we all have hair in places we can't control or want. And these days waxing is great and fast but most of us want something PERMANENT done to our lovely hairs in places we can't stand. I've fortunately had the opportunity to try both Laser and Electrolysis. </span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';">I started doing Electrolysis about 6 years ago @ Spa Gregories by my favorite Karen Lunzman. I wanted to do my eyebrows because being an Italian and brows...not good. So for about a year, every week, Karen would *zap* my lovely hairs and shape my brown line. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I don't have the shadow that was always there and all the hairs that she zapped are PERMANENTLY removed. Electrolysis is a more guaranteed form of hair removal. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';">So a few years after I decided to try laser for my underarms and bikini. Um waste of money for ME. Everyone is different, for instance my best friend benefits from it far more than I did. Don't get me wrong the shadow that would come under my arms is gone and the hairs are a lot finer but after almost two years of treatments...I still have hair. See unfortunately with laser RESULTS are NOT always GUARANTEED. Lasers work best on people with dark hair but with LIGHT skin. For Electrolysis RESULTS ARE GUARANTEED it kills every follicle the Electrolysist treats. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">I highly recommend Spa Gregories to get Electrolysis done. So for those women who suffer with rosacea, dryness, acne or other skin ailments, utilizing mineral makeup permits them to take advantage of a skin-friendly product which will not exacerbate their problems. As well, the prime ingredients used in mineral makeup are, unlike most makeup, inorganic, which means that bacteria and microbes cannot live in the makeup and infect the skin. The fact that the ingredients are inorganic also means that no preservatives need be included and that the makeup will have a long shelf life, so long as reasonable care is taken to apply the makeup with clean brushes.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;">The best mineral makeups contain a number of ingredients designed for the purpose of improving the well-being of the skin. These may include a broad spectrum of UVA and UVB sun protection, as well as zinc, magnesium and some anti-inflammatories. For women who complain of oily skin, mineral makeup can provide an excellent solution. The usual chemical-based applications are very oily, due to the oils they contain. These oils cause a lot of issues, especially in women with an oily complexion. These issues can be avoided by using mineral-based makeup, since no oils are used in their manufacture.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;">So the benefits of mineral makeup over traditional cosmetics are quite significant. Mineral makeup does not damage the skin with damaging oils and chemical additives. It does not block the skin's pores or provide a breeding ground for bacteria. It usually includes beneficial ingredients to guard the skin from the sun’s harmful rays and to feed and nourish it. And it provides the wearer with a healthy and natural aura. So it is little wonder mineral makeup is flying off the shelves.</span></span></div></div></div>Jen's Skincare Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07726795677305409340noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7375965101972801669.post-26956710484566050442010-01-11T16:04:00.000-08:002010-01-11T16:24:23.913-08:00Welcome to 2010!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2XWuvIaVHdnl0fjWvV343ntT-cOIBPbgtu5nDHC8AbNdiOb_0Z6AUGyTLfn5b-eyUI8GwefsrLtL-9FzjfV8ZvK6XMItefe-Zwf7nskpa8ENesi7SAFDuz97DPyeGprUH6qXfHRQkar4/s1600-h/facials2.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 190px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2XWuvIaVHdnl0fjWvV343ntT-cOIBPbgtu5nDHC8AbNdiOb_0Z6AUGyTLfn5b-eyUI8GwefsrLtL-9FzjfV8ZvK6XMItefe-Zwf7nskpa8ENesi7SAFDuz97DPyeGprUH6qXfHRQkar4/s200/facials2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425638153954434882" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Happy New Year to all! I cannot believe its already 2010! Its also the time of year when our skin decides to change and get flaky, dry, chapped, etc. And no matter how much moisture we put on our skin whether its lotions, moisturizers, etc it still doesn't seem to help. </span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">As an Aesthetician I get clients who constantly are dry during this time of year and being that we live in California one day can be 40 degrees and the next day can be 70 degrees. Our skin goes into shock when this happens and the barrier of our skin tends to well..."freak" out. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Tips for winter months:</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 19px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">1. The first thing you need to do is cut out the hot showers. I know this is what you look forward to during the winter after working and coming home through the cold rain, sleet or snow; however, this is bad for your skin. Long, hot showers strip skin of its natural moisture. Instead, take a short lukewarm shower, pat dry and apply a moisturizer containing humectants, emollients and occlusives. Avoid moisturizers with alcohol and fragrance during the winter as they can dry skin more.<br /><br />2. Heating your home is also a problem for skin during the winter months. Central heating systems rob air of moisture, which can have adverse effects on skin by making skin dry, flaky and itchy. Purchasing and using a humidifier can help reduce the damage to skin done by winter heating systems. If possible, turn central air as low as possible to keep the air in your home from drying out.<br /><br />3. Do not forego the sunscreen in the winter. The sun is still strong in the winter and your skin still needs the protection that you give it during the summer months. Furthermore, if you live where there is snow on the ground for much of the winter you especially need sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun reflecting off the snow and ice.</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#333333;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 19px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Suggested Skin care healers:</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#333333;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 19px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#333333;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 19px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">1. And not only is your face dry it seems, the whole body gets dry...and we sit and wish for our summer to come back...<div><br /></div><div>My advice to all during this change in weather...is hydrate, hydrate, HYDRATE. Drink plenty of water to not only keep you personally from being dehydrated but to keep your skin feeling healthy and hydrated. Make sure you're still using sunscreen during the day as well! Sunscreen is not just for the summer months its for YEAR ROUND protection. My favorite sunscreen by far is the Epicuren Zinc Oxide ..I use it daily after my hydrating serum right before my makeup and I love it! </div><div><br /></div><div>Also do not forget about your lips! Apply a good lip balm daily or chapstick. My favorite is the Epicuren Lip balm! It soothes and rejuvenates dry, chapped and weathered lips. It also has sunscreen in it and Tea Tree Oil...very calming to your skin. </div><div><br /></div><div>For your body during the winter remember to apply lotion right after a shower and reapply during the day. Epicuren's After Bath is a really good moisturizing lotion full of vitamin protein complex and antioxidants. </div><div><br /></div><div>Also I recommend doing a hydrating mask once a week as well to really nourish and rejuvenate your skin. For instance the Arcona Wine Hydrating mask is amazing!. </div><div><br /></div><div>I highly recommend Hyaluronic acid serums or gels. Epicuren's Moisture Surge or Arcona's Hydrating serum are both amazing Hyaluronic serums that you can add to your moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and from cracking and feeling flaky. </div><div><br /></div><div>The winter can be harsh on your skin so remember it needs special care during these cold months! </div><div><br /></div>Jen's Skincare Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07726795677305409340noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7375965101972801669.post-85392581660915151202009-10-12T11:34:00.000-07:002009-10-23T11:10:02.188-07:00The NuFace amazing microcurrent technology!!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0xDPG9BmzefXMfKxBKh2DYOxMHZG0SuajYnyjO9rfvCA1OKKC8-V0b6L_N3bUF55FqXenXNpdoc1VCXTINhWzTyfLXzArrxRK2qxdtziwKCO8a6FQaenCkvEHvlWPHh-TBGTi6S9yJDA/s1600-h/5255_129187281846_129174701846_3031450_2846521_n.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 179px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0xDPG9BmzefXMfKxBKh2DYOxMHZG0SuajYnyjO9rfvCA1OKKC8-V0b6L_N3bUF55FqXenXNpdoc1VCXTINhWzTyfLXzArrxRK2qxdtziwKCO8a6FQaenCkvEHvlWPHh-TBGTi6S9yJDA/s200/5255_129187281846_129174701846_3031450_2846521_n.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391784223715488274" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;">I am absolutely stoked to start using NuFace! Well, we have the low down for you.</p><p>Cosmetic quality is what department, drug and grocery stores sell. These include the big and expensive brands and the cheaper ones. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows cosmetic grade products to contain up to 30% bacteria. This means that ingredients may only be 70% pure. It is a large breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to contact dermatitis, an itchy red rash. This is why makeup packaging tells us to throw away any unused product every 90-180 days. And 95% of the skincare industry is cosmetic quality and unregulated by the FDA. Cosmetic companies are not required to register their products with the FDA, while cosmetic products are subjective and do not reflect or require scientific testing.</p><p>Pharmaceutical grade skin care products are FDA regulated. The FDA requires that pharmaceutical grade products be 99.9% pure ingredients. Products must contain 0.1%, or less, of bacteria. Only 5% of the skin care industry is under the regulation established by the FDA and considered pharmaceutical grade skin care products.</p><p><br /></p><p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">My view:</span></p><p>I've been doing a ton of research on different product lines. I do this not to only educate myself but to educate my clients on what is good and what is not good. Skin Care lines found in department stores do not have a high percentage of active ingredients. They contain fillers, fragrances, etc that make the product last long and smell good while NOT doing what they usually claim to do to your skin. This is why I recommend to my clients products that are organic, products that are pharmaceutical grade, products that not only give results but are GOOD for your skin. This is why I love: Eminence Organics, GloSkinCare, Epicuren and Arcona. </p></span>Jen's Skincare Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07726795677305409340noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7375965101972801669.post-81105429395469377542009-08-25T16:03:00.000-07:002009-09-08T14:27:58.441-07:00Microdermabrasion<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgphVOik-uPBPPPDQSldVCQft93mDhCrfXrWQsuxXAqdK-PHMJ8qb2sMv-x3-wB9m1AJ5zuPKHAjBgIhOYJvnAt9euZMEuiowbvTgpxWY0zjXDARrkB2VhXvMxPefQWJzOPfS_YcDNua20/s1600-h/microderm1.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgphVOik-uPBPPPDQSldVCQft93mDhCrfXrWQsuxXAqdK-PHMJ8qb2sMv-x3-wB9m1AJ5zuPKHAjBgIhOYJvnAt9euZMEuiowbvTgpxWY0zjXDARrkB2VhXvMxPefQWJzOPfS_YcDNua20/s200/microderm1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379211075100061746" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgapcwPISstU2lM0ixsNr5HOdIxBXE6kmzR7fbu2Mv2Ms3-WsOG80ddMGcApe2BxhUFVD3RM2PmCDGMP8r_SROqnYEvzFFRdyEdOc0sIRZLY9kiCLqw_RhqCvuFqJ4Vi4X8bIA2Wn5KKf4/s1600-h/microdermabrasion.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 183px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgapcwPISstU2lM0ixsNr5HOdIxBXE6kmzR7fbu2Mv2Ms3-WsOG80ddMGcApe2BxhUFVD3RM2PmCDGMP8r_SROqnYEvzFFRdyEdOc0sIRZLY9kiCLqw_RhqCvuFqJ4Vi4X8bIA2Wn5KKf4/s200/microdermabrasion.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374041462381244930" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;">Microdermabrasion has become very popular treatment these days. Not only by Hollywood celebrities but by all different women around the world. I think its a great way to keep your skin looking young and help with any sun damage, acne scars, etc. Here is some useful information about microderm:<br /><br /></span><p>Microdermabrasion is a simple, straight forward, non-invasive procedure that revitalizes dull skin, reduces large pores, erases fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, reduces mild pigment irregularities (hyperpigmentation), stretch marks and age spots.</p> <p>It is equally effective to other skin treatments (on superficial imperfections) and, most importantly, it allows you to get back to your daily routine immediately after treatment.</p><p>Microderm has become so popular because:</p><ul><li>The least invasive dermatological procedure</li><li>More affordable than surgical skin care treatments</li><li>Effective on all skin types and colors (including sensitive skin and black skin)</li><li>Does not need anesthesia when performed at a beauty salon or physician's office (unlike micro laser peel and dermabrasion)</li><li>Gives the skin a healthy-looking glow</li></ul><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">My Favorite Microderm Facial: Epicurabrasion!! </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></span></div><div>Epircurabrasion is a subercharged combination of Microdermabrasion and the famous Epicuren Enzyme mask...this facial is by far my favorite for that deep exfoliation w/ microderm. The most important thing is you need sunscreen on your face daily. </span><br /><br />The good thing about the advancement in Sunscreen is there are tinted moisturizers w/ SPF, foundations w/ SPF, etc. No one likes the smell of the sunscreen we put on our bodies. Luckily there are scientists out there that have come up with sunscreens that do not smell like sunscreen.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />Here is a list of my favorite sunscreens for your face:</span><br /><br />Epicuren's Zinc Oxide SPF 20 & Epicuren's X-Treme Cream SPF 45<br />Eminence Organics Sun Defense Minerals<br />Arcona's Sunsations Mineral Makeup<br />MD Skincare Tinted Moisturizer<br />Spa Gregories Tinted Moisturizer<br /><br />Trust me a lot of people don't realize that they can get sun damage just driving in their car. It doesn't matter if you're working in a office all day you still drive to and from work. Skin Cancer has seen more cases in the last few years and its time for our generation to help stop the ugly disease and hopefully one day their will be NO Skin Cancer, or cancer period.<br /><br />Protect your skin...trust me I'm a beach girl and I love the sun but the more I have educated myself on the damages the sun and tanning beds do to your skin it scares me to think of the times I've been careless and NOT worn sunscreen.<br /><br />So please ...for YOU and your skin...wear sunscreen daily.Jen's Skincare Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07726795677305409340noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7375965101972801669.post-10467646672540495872009-08-16T18:18:00.001-07:002009-08-18T11:33:28.430-07:00Welcome to my blog!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuTwvr3WoAD3r0Rjfyaai0JOgbcgxVVFsoGiB1ttKcn9k-rpR6JtZ4pMTxflMCohsshMOVfTk3oUmaDdwvSNM9C9pJGwJ6FyuYeMe9bUs96KwgOpZEconZuxVInLvKgpYwXTUDLxHrxk0/s1600-h/H6CH7GPC1s2skincare.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuTwvr3WoAD3r0Rjfyaai0JOgbcgxVVFsoGiB1ttKcn9k-rpR6JtZ4pMTxflMCohsshMOVfTk3oUmaDdwvSNM9C9pJGwJ6FyuYeMe9bUs96KwgOpZEconZuxVInLvKgpYwXTUDLxHrxk0/s320/H6CH7GPC1s2skincare.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371373679837209954" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><img src="file:///Users/Jen/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot.jpg" alt="" /><br /><img src="file:///Users/Jen/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot-1.jpg" alt="" /><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;"><br /><br />Hi Everyone!<br /><br />Welcome to my new blog...I decided it was a good idea to try something new and start a blog about what I do for a living and give all of you some great tips, websites, advice, etc for your #1 organ...YOUR SKIN.<br /><br />I received my Esthetician License in December of last year, have had amazing training, worked with Burke Williams for about 6 months but came back to my favorite Spa and my Spa Family, Spa Gregories.
